I rec’d quotes from two reputable paving companies to have the alleyway sealed. They are both very similar in price. There are probably smaller operations that will do it for less, but both firms come highly recommended. These firms will first clean up all the gravel and rocks, patch the cracks, and lay down a thin sealing mixture to smooth and protect the alleyway asphalt. Here is an Alleyway FAQ I put together.
I have quotes for the entire alleyway and a quote for 1/3rd of the alley way near Montague Road. On the attached map, the entire alleyway is Yellow + Red. One third of the alleyway is RED only.
The total number of homes on 1/3 of the alleyway is 14 and the entire alleyway is 33. If we assume 75% participation, we’re looking at 10 homes and 24 homes respectively (I rounded down).
At 75% participation with 10 homes paying, we can do the 1/3 of the alleyway for about $340/home. We can do the entire alleyway for about $250/home at 75% participation.
At 100% home-owner participation the costs drop, but I am doubtful on 100% participation.
